He was especially prolific and popular during the 1980s and worked on a lot of science fiction anime. He is most well known for providing the character designs to the original Macross TV series and films. He also attended the same university (Keio University) as fellow Macross creators Kawamori Shoji and Ounogi Hiroshi.
