She was designed by yaman and made her Youtube debut on December 28, 2019. She is an ancient dragon from the United States of Dragon America who became bored with life in the dragon world and decided to explore our human world. In her dragon form, she has a purple body. Her dragon form is tagged as Kiryu_coco_(dragon). After accidentally crashing into the Hololive building in her dragon form, she is recruited by the agency's CEO, Yagoo, to work at Hololive in her human form. She has an irreverent sense of humor that often dances on the edge of getting her streams demonetized, and when speaking English, often makes profane jokes. She often refers to her senpais as paisen, a more colloquial way of saying senpai. While she does video game playthroughs and streams like the other Hololive members, she is also the host of AsaCoco Live News, a comedic news program that delivers the news about the Hololive members, and in mid-2020 created a Reddit account which inspired the creation of a meme review series where she reacts to the Hololive-related memes Reddit users came up with. She is bilingual, fluent in both Japanese and English, often switching between the two on the streams and translating material that her Japanese viewers may not otherwise understand. Her English notably has a strong American Southern twang. Because of this, she often conducts mini-classes where she teaches the other members English. Her classes often teach grammatically correct but profane English. Soon after her debut, she quickly ascended to becoming one of the most popular vtubers in hololive and was also responsible for introducing many of her fellow members to Ark Survival Evolved. Her surprising amount of influence has led to her often being referred to as Kaichou or Chairman by her fellow hololive members, even by her seniors. She also makes a brief cameo in the manga Kaguya-sama wa Kokurasetai whose creator, Aka Akasaka, is a big fan of vtubers. She is also known for being a big fan of Ryuu Ga Gotoku, which she has cited as being one of the main reasons she came to Japan and is a big influence on her streamer persona. She shares a family name with its protagonist Kiryuu Kazuma and her nickname of Kaichou is also inspired by that series. She had the distinction of being the top Superchat earner during her time at hololive, a position she gained by July 2020, and earned $85 million yen just through Superchat donations alone by August 2020. Many of her fellow Hololive members are also in the Top 10 Superchat earners. After a run of a year and half, Coco graduated from hololive on July 1st, 2021. Unlike past Hololive graduations, this one was announced weeks in advance by the vtuber herself, and she and her fellow vtubers treated her final month at the company as a grand finale and an extended goodbye. Coco's channel was also allowed to remain on Youtube even after it became inactive.
