Frodo is a hobbit of the Shire who inherits the_One_Ring from his cousin Bilbo_Baggins, described familiarly as "uncle", and undertakes the quest to destroy it in the fires of Mount Doom in Mordor. He is mentioned in Tolkien's posthumously published works, The_Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. In The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001–2003) directed by Peter Jackson, Frodo is played by the American actor Elijah_Wood.
