Now Viewing: minigunTag type: General The term "Minigun" has popularly come to refer to any externally powered Gatling gun of rifle caliber, though the term is sometimes used to refer to guns of similar rates of fire and configuration, regardless of power source and caliber. Some "miniguns" can use the propellant gas of fired rounds to assist in rotating the barrels, with the rate-of-fire increasing after each shot is fired until max RPM is reached. The Soviet GShG-7.62 uses a combination of electric drive and propellant gas to rotate the barrels.
