Now Viewing: fighter_jetTag type: General A jet-powered military aircraft. Mostly responsible for maintaining air superiority, patrolling airspace, and engaging other aircraft in combat. Multi-role fighters are designed so that they can perform ground attack missions when equipped with weapons/equipment for said role, alongside their traditional role as a fighter. Some jet fighters can travel at supersonic speeds upwards of Mach 3. They can be armed with an array of guided and unguided bombs, missiles (both air-to-air and air-to-ground), and cannons. Pilots that fly them are equipped with a g-suit and an oxygen_mask on their pilot_helmet, to allow them to withstand the heavy g-force from maneuvering the aircraft at supersonic speed, and to breathe easily while flying at altitudes of more than 20,000 feet.
