She seems to be a gentle and sweet teacher, but the main characters stumble upon pictures of the former light music club's members who, unlike the main characters, did not play light music and instead were a band called Death_Devil that played heavy metal. The anime also implies they have played music even harder than heavy metal. The Houkago Tea Time girls note one of the wild looking girls in the pictures resembles Sawako. In the anime, Sawako is embarrassed by these pictures and makes a good deal of effort to hide them, but to no avail and Sawako is roped into becoming the main characters' mentor. In the anime, she joined the old light music club in order to impress a boy she liked, but this backfired as he found her and her music to be too crazy for his tastes. Despite her initial embarrassment, Sawako has not given up her love or skill at music. Besides mentoring the main characters, she also manages other music clubs, and she is still very good at guitar and singing and remains friends with her former band mates. In the case of the former, she is vastly superior in skill compared to the HTT girls. She wants to be seen as a serious and responsible teacher to her homeroom students, but like the HTT girls she is quite lazy and has a major love of sweets. She also has a seemingly superhuman ability to suddenly show up unannounced wherever the HTT girls are, catching them off guard every time. In spite of her flaws, she does help the girls when they really need it. She seems to have an interest in fashion and designs the clothing the HTT girls wear for their performances when they aren't wearing their standard school uniforms. The informal way the HTT girls interact with Sawako also spreads to her homeroom students embarrassing her. Nevertheless, the HTT girls and her homeroom students respect Sawako. Whenever she takes off her glasses, her hair instantly becomes messier and she becomes her wild stage persona Katherine. She is voiced by Sanada_Asami who also does the character's singing.
